LORD OF THE FALLEN (2014)

Lords of the Fallen  is a third-person action role-playing game containing a slow tactical approach to close-quarters combat gameplay, with difficult enemies and locations to overcome, while learning from their encounters.  The game is divided into acts with hubs and nonlinear gameplay progression through a main central story, with new areas continuously opened as the player progresses while also being allowed to return to previously completed areas. Forty-five minutes passed in Lords of the Fallen before I died for the first time. That's a bit of a surprise for a game that makes no secret of its heavy debts to the ultra-punishing Dark Souls series, but the combat I experienced on the way to that first death revealed a game that's just as concerned with letting us have fun without the pain.  Lords of the Fallen’s formulaic story follows Harkyn, a gruff criminal who's pulled from behind bars to save the world from interdimensional ...

LORDS OF THE FALLEN (2023): DELUXE EDITION

Lords of the Fallen captured my interest in its early hours more than its 2014 predecessor of the same name ever did. But despite a solid gameplay foundation, stunning world, and unique two-realm mechanic, by the time I reached credits after 48 hours, I was overjoyed to be done. Lords of the Fallen begins like any other Soulslike. The world – Mournstead, in this instance – is a terrible place to live, but you can save it. You’re tasked by a religious order with lighting five beacons spread across the land to prevent the return of Adyr, a dark god who wants to instill chaos.  But surviving is no easy feat, as Umbral is filled with even more enemies than Axiom. At first, exploring Umbral, using the lamp to solve light puzzles and pull platforms toward me, was good fun. Lords of the Fallen is a Sequel/Reboot for the franchise.  You don’t need to know the rather basic story from the first game.  You are a Dark Crusader, chosen by the previous wielder to control an Umbr...

RYSE: SON OF ROME

Ryse: Son of Rome's gameplay revolves around the control of a Roman general named Marius Titus. Titus is an experienced combat general, who leads squads of Roman infantry across the battlefield. Titus is able to give commands to his legion. There will be a co-operative multiplayer mode that allows players to fight in gladiator-style coliseum matches. Up to two players team up to fight waves of enemies in front of thousands of spectators. The better you do in combat, the more points you earn, the more executions you unlock, the more of Marius’ skills you increase, the better you can do in combat. The progression is simple and keeps combat engaging even when the game is sending a few too many of the same enemies at you. During focus mode, where Marius can slow down time and perform flurries of attacks on completely vulnerable enemies, the screen would turn a shade of yellow. Ryse: Son of Rome  System Requirements (Minimum) CPU : Dual core with HyperThreading technology or...

REMNANT 2

Remnant 2 is often described as Dark Souls with guns, and that’s an accurate surface-level assessment. However, it’s a rather inadequate explanation of what makes Remnant 2 a compelling choice amid the souls-like genre. Another notch on Remnant 2’s belt is the fact that several of its features feel like a straight upgrade over its soul-like cousins. The ability to play the entire game co-op, for example, rather than a wonky summoning system.  Remnant 2 continues the story from Remnant: From the Ashes, so to understand the essence of the Remnant 2 video game’s storyline, it’s worth familiarizing yourself with the plot that unfolded in its predecessor. Both Remnant 2 and its predecessor are third-person shooters. This mechanic worked well in Remnant: From the Ashes, so the creators decided to retain it. Remnant II   System Requirements (Minimum) CPU : Intel Core i5-7600 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600 RAM : 16 GB VIDEO CARD : GeForce GT4 1650 / AMD Radeon RX 590 DEDICATED VIDEO R...

HELLBLADE SENUA'S SACRIFICE

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice tells of a warrior’s brutal journey into myth and madness. Set in the Viking age, a broken Celtic warrior embarks on a haunting vision quest into Viking Hell to fight for the soul of her dead lover. Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is divided into two types of gameplay: the first allows Senua to walk freely and interact with her surroundings. Those parts focus on either story via voiceover, as Senua travels from one location to another, or the resolution of a puzzle or challenge of some kind to progress further. HELLBLADE is horror, and despite the insinuations of action from the warrior lead and the big “blade” in the title, combat takes a backseat here.  Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice  System Requirements (Minimum) CPU : Intel i5 3570K / AMD FX-8350 CPU SPEED : Info RAM : 8 GB VIDEO CARD : GTX 770 with 2GB VRAM / Radeon R9 280X 3GB DEDICATED VIDEO RAM : 2 GB (3 GB A 6 D) PIXEL SHADER : 5.0 VERTEX SHADER : 5.0 OS : Windows 7, 8, 10 FREE D...
